CLIMATE WEEK

Several activities took part in school to raise awareness of the UK's first Climate Week. Mrs Bax facilitated the Climate Challenge in the Library, S3 Geography pupils designed wall displays and in French, S1 pupils learned some new recycling vocabulary. During the Mentoring period some pupils had the opportunity to watch the film 'The Age of Stupid'. The film stars the late Pete Postlethwaite as a man living in the devastated future world of 2055 and asking the question: why didn't we stop climate change when we had the chance? The film is available to download at www.spannerfilms.net

Thanks to departments who contributed.

On Friday afternoon Eco Drama Scotland visited the school. S1 pupils participated in 'Professor Green's Eco Gadget workshop'. Pupils acted as Special Green Agents and investigated alternative forms of transport such as a boat which runs on candle wax and a hydrogen powered car. Pupils then used drama and role play to design an advert for one of the gadgets. The event was enjoyed by all and produced excellent ambassadors for the environment.
